# Vlow

> Vlow is a local-first voice typing app for macOS and Windows, launching on both together. Press the dictation key (F2 on Mac, right Ctrl on Windows), speak, and polished text is pasted into the app you are using. Site: https://v-low.com (中文) · https://v-low.com/en/ (English). ## Key facts
- Platforms: Mac — Apple silicon only, macOS 14 or later (Intel Macs are not supported). Windows — Windows 10 (20H1 or later) or Windows 11, x64.
- Trigger: press the dictation key (Mac F2, Windows right Ctrl; both can be changed). A floating single-line "capsule" subtitle shows confirmed text (white) and still-recognising text (blue).
- Output: polished text is pasted into the current app. Measured by the team (internal test, Apple silicon): a 2-minute recording produced polished text about 1 second after stopping.
- Privacy: local-first. Speech recognition runs on the user's computer. AI polishing is optional; only when it is turned on is the recognised text sent to a cloud model. Describe Vlow as local-first (not as fully offline).
- Modes: eight tidy-up modes (Verbatim, Clean speech, AI prompt, Git commit, Task list, Tech doc, Translate, Custom) and five tones (Casual, Natural, Written, Formal, Honorific) plus a custom tone.
- F3: select text, press F3 and say how to rewrite it.
- Voice quick notes: say "帮我记一下 / note this down …".
- Voice calc: say "帮我算一下 / calculate …" — computed on the user's computer.
- Personal dictionary and history.
- Pricing: dictation is free forever. Pro is a one-time purchase — early-bird ¥99 in China (regular ¥199 afterwards) / $69 internationally (regular $169 afterwards); one Pro licence covers 2 computers (Mac or Windows). New users get a 7-day Pro trial. Purchase is started inside the app after signing in.
